Translation Process and Quality Control

The translation process is organized in the following stages:

1. Estimation of effort and project cost
2. Preparation for translation: original text analysis, reconciliation of terminology, checking resources
3. Technical preparation of documents
4. Processing of the original text with MT and TM systems
5. Human translation of the original text by professional translators
6. Editing translation
7. Putting together and making-up the translated documents
8. Proofreading of technically prepared documentation
9. Close-up and hand over to the Customer

In addition to the steps above, the project may include some additional steps, e.g. translation check at the Customer's side and update of all project materials according to remarks and suggestions made by the Customer.

The Translation Department's quality assurance system is one of our key advantages:

• Automated terminology management and control during and after the translation stage, automatic dictionaries and memories updates, a system of online notifications and other relevant tools help us assure high translation quality even in the beginning of the project and provide immediate response to changes in terminology or other style requirements of the Customer.
• Preventive approach: thorough analysis of all materials provided by the Customer, including context analysis; customization of machine translation for the project documentation according to results of the analysis and consultations with the Customer, development of translation guidelines and detailed instructions for human translators.
• Quality control is fully integrated in the translation process and implies active participation of specialists fulfilling various functions (translator, lexicographer, editor, proofreader, process manager…) and Customer's experts. Among other things, this approach guarantees objective evaluation of translation quality, transparency and mutual control during the project.
